Widgeon Kits |
G-44 Grumman Widgeon ¼ Scale kit Thank you for your interest in our Widgeon model. This has been collaborative effort and a labor of love for an entire team of manufacturers and modelers alike. Al Franklin of Seattle Washington built the model. The molds were then brought to Southern California and mods and production began for the first 4 prototypes. Two of which have been flown very successfully. The molds were then delivered to G&P Sales of Angwin California and further development began on producing the model. A prototype was shipped to Robart Manufacturing where the aircraft was fitted with a retractable main gear and tailwheel. Dan Egelhoff flew the first prototype and the aircraft owner was Oscar Wiengart of Riverside California. Doug Imes flew the Robart prototype at the 2001 Joe Nall Memorial meet in Greenville,South Carolina. This was the second prototype to fly. Both aircraft flew beautifully! The designer’s aircraft (Al Franklin) and Oscar’s aircraft swept the Lake Havasu 2000 meet by taking both the Peoples Choice and Best Static awards. The Widgeon swept Lake Havasu! Enclosed are pictures of three of the prototypes, a sample of the instructions, list of parts included in the kit and information on the landing gear and painting the model. The kits are built as they are ordered and are drop shipped from G&P Sales. We sincerely hope this information lives up to your expectations, the Widgeon certainly lives up to ours.
